If there is one show that has witnessed some of the most outlandish casting changes over the years, it has to be Colors TV’s Choti Sardarni. The show has witnessed more entries, exits, replacements and re-entries and other such developments than any other for a while now.
The show has an important character of Devika where actors Farah Khan and Nidhi Bhavsar have both portrayed the role so far (before shoot). And now, the makers have roped in a third actor to play the important part in the form of actor Rutuja Sawant. Sawant will be seen paired opposite Vineet Raina, who plays the role of Param Gill. While Khan shot for a couple of days and her entry was aired, Bhavsar had to opt out on day one at the shoot.
Talking about bagging the role finally, Sawant said, “This is a big project for me and I am sure that things will turn in my favour from here. Two girls were cast for the character of Devika before me and finally, I have been brought on board. There is added responsibility and pressure on me to perform to the best of my ability. I have to prove to them that I am a perfect choice and not let them down.”

Sawant is still new to the entertainment industry where she completed a course in engineering last year. She said, “I had planned to work at an MNC. However, a casting director from the South saw my pictures on Instagram and approached me for a film. At first, I first thought it was a scam. However, it turned out to be a genuine casting call and I left for Hyderabad for the project. While shooting, I realised that I can give acting a serious try. In real life, I am not very expressive but I happen to shed my inhibitions in front of the camera. I shot for two Telugu films, but their release has been postponed because of the pandemic. Since then, I have been striving to make a mark as an actor. Finding work in this industry is very difficult because there are thousands of talented actors vying for good projects and you have to shine among them.”
Sawant was last seen in the popular Star Plus show, Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali.
