Rudrakaal actor Bhanu Uday says ”At the end of the day, television has the biggest audience”
Rudrakaal actor Bhanu Uday Goswami made a return to the screens of sorts with his finite series, Rudrakaal. The show sees him play the role of DCP Ranjan Chittoda, and the show has been receiving a lot of love for its concept and the overall look of it.
During an interview with India-Forums, the actor got chatty about what he feels regarding the stereotypes around television and the gap that exists between TV and OTT. The actor said, ”The whole intention here was to change how a cop is perceived, and without taking any names, they are perceived in a certain way, even cop dramas for that matter. That was the basic intent and we wanted to bring the highest quality of content to television. At the end of the day, television has the biggest audience, because no matter what you say, OTT and the webspace, but the biggest shows there get a viewership of let’s say 50 million but a Star Plus gets a viewership of 250 million, so there is no comparison.”
He further added, ”The only problem I think with television was that it was becoming regressive, and so, they were losing their audience, so the whole purpose of this show is to bring the highest quality entertainment of international standards to the biggest possible audience.”
Well, with the rise of OTT, it is indeed true that the content on television is undergoing a gradual change, and for good.
